Join the UIC Heritage Garden for the annual Spring Seed Swap! We invite gardeners, organizations, and community members interested in learning more about gardening, environmental sustainability, and social justice. Anyone can come to share knowledge, stories, and resources with others, and make new friends from around the city. 

Admission is free! Masks are required. Participants do not need to bring seeds to attend.

Time: 12 pm - 2 pm
Location: UIC Latino Cultural Center, Lecture Center B2, 803 S Morgan Street

Flowers for You, Flowers for Our Liberation: Paper Flower Bouquets, Affirmation Zines and Collective Care Conversations

At the UIC Latino Cultural Center

Join us for a drop-in open-studio where we will learn how to make paper flower bouquets from recycled and collage materials,* create love affirmation zines, and write self-love letters while drinking tea from the UIC Heritage Garden! Discuss collective care during local and global times of stress while building community through art-making!

Materials for card-making and social-justice themed valentines will be provided!

*Supplies will be provided.

Volunteer Days

At the UIC Heritage Garden

Have you ever wanted to get involved with gardening at UIC?

Help us prepare for the summer!

Join us for some Spring hands-on gardening and learn how Heritage Garden interns are connecting horticulture with environmental sustainability, cultural diversity, and social justice. Activities will vary, but may include preparing seeds to give away and potting up plants and moving them to different sites. Be prepared to get your hands dirty, make new friends, learn new skills, and have fun!

Limited spots available! Take a free plant when you volunteer! Masks are required.

  • Wednesday, April 3rd from 11 am - 1pm

These events will be mostly outdoors: tools, gloves, and all other gardening materials will be provided. All levels of gardening skills are welcomed.
